Amoju cooperative is named for the river that divides the city of Jaen. The word comes from Awajun, a local, indigenous language, and means “source of fresh water.” Like a cooling sip of fresh water, this FTO-certified coffee is refreshing and sweet. The Specialty Coffee Association has given this bean an 83 point cupping score classifying it as specialty coffee.
Founded in September 2016, Amoju Agrarian Cooperative is a group of Peruvian smallholders located in Amazonas, San Martin and Cajamarca. Amoju cooperative is named for the river that divides the city of Jaen. The word comes from Awajun, a local, indigenous language, and means “source of fresh water.”
The cooperative is Fairtrade and Organic certified. The certifications help farmers tap into a wider market and garner a premium for their coffees. Part of that premium can be used for improvement projects for all members and their communities.

Green apple, pear, milk chocolate, citrus and a clean sweet aftertaste.

This makes a wonderful cup of coffee. Rich and smooth without any bitterness. My favorite South American Coffee. I like this roasted dark which the Roasted Bean happily customizes for me. They roast and ship quickly, too!
